Heading down to Philly today for another SERE Challenge. Over the past five weeks I’ve completed a GORUCK Challenge in Boston, a 10k (with 5 bricks and a dozen liquid bricks), a SERE Challenge in Boston, a GORUCK Scavenger in Philly, and GORUCK Trek in DC. I could probably use some time to recuperate and get back to normal but nope. No rest for the wicked. Next weekend will be my first rest weekend since early March. Then right back at it with a Tough Mudder in VT on May 5th. Another weekend off, then up to Portland for another GORUCK Challenge. All this has taught me a lot about myself as well as others. The human mind and body are amazing things and can put up with a hell of a lot. Ask me a year ago if I’d be doing most of this and I’d probably have laughed at you. Now I’m hooked on it. I’ve gone 40+ hours without sleep so many times over the past few weeks and covered 100+ miles without thinking about it much. Just put one foot in front of the other and keep moving along. Life’s too short to waste sitting in front of a tv. Get out and get moving.
